Karaé Müldoon Brilliance, fine art! poetic, dark... and beautiful at its core. Favorite track: The Harrowing Steppe.

xenomorph8472 A  menacing sojourn into the bitter chasm of absolute void, Skrelle is a nightmarish yet vividly textured work of experimental symphonic black metal. The debut EP by the group hailing from the majestic Pacific Northwest, this sound is a bold vision of utter chaos and hopelessness. With daring artwork by none other than Wrest, the 3 songs enclosed within this work, are deceptive in their deeply concepted structure and depth. One gets the sense of a much larger scale within the nearly 20 minutes Favorite track: The Harrowing Steppe.
Ippocalyptica
Ippocalyptica thumbnail
Ippocalyptica At a time when many of the more prominent dissonant black metal bands are either slipping in quality or simply inactive, Skrellle have emerged from the shadows to offer a very interesting and compelling vision of muscular and unsettling symphonic black metal. While this EP offers a limited taste of what the band might be able to do, the taste is strong enough to whet the appetite for a full length sooner rather later. Composition, vocals, riffs, intensity, atmosphere - it is all here! Favorite track: Eye of Burden.

In the beginning, as it was and so shall it be in the end of days, Light was cast upon the void and all its horrors. And all that is vile began to writhe from brine and sod, Proliferating fear and isolation Beyond the eyes of gods. Rising to ascendancy upon the backs of fatal flaws, So each day we rise and look to the light of the sun. It is with ominous sense of foreboding of what's to come. The wrath of nature's law And fate's obscured hands weaving webs of delight and despair, A wretched thing to spend existence self aware. The weight of all things placed squarely upon our shoulders, The light of knowledge blinds our eyes and drives us into delusion. Alone on a throne of failure, Circling the spirals along the paths to unbind thy soul. With great power comes great pain, And all that is lost in the end will erase all that was gained. Is this curse to be held in the highest of reverence, Or is it to be scorned and spat upon? Is it possible to discern the difference? The dredging grind of questions unanswered Paired with the impetuous will of nature, An impeccably functioning environment of self sustaining entropy set to linger through the eons. And so as the ages accrued the permanence of this despondency metastasized throughout reality, manifesting in manifold forms sublime and sinister with no reprieve for the many to remain unanswered. All is lost. To the void we return. As it was, so shall it be.

Upon the barren plains Of spiraling desolation Where no life dwells And all color is painted shades of grey, The mire of stagnation From which no light can escape Contests to expand Consuming all in its radial path. Amidst the deafening silence Disrupting frozen shadow, A thunderous cracking of the static Defiant of catharsis, Renouncing abject darkness, New strength alleviates my atrophied limbs. From pits of despair My emaciated form rises To set forth again on the endless journey Across the vastness of the expanse. With every step the skin of my feet blister Peeling away revealing the muscle and bone. With every glance my eyes find no oasis In this bleak and inhospitable home. There is no end, There is no beginning , Only the journey And the vastness of the expanse.

A place of fear, a cimmerian vortex, Resounding with the screams of the forsaken and forgotten sense of self, The realm from which nightmares are born to incubate and manifest in hideous form. Causing the soul to wither, Making the flesh decay, Confined to this waking terror, The shrieking winds of the maelstrom howl Eviscerating any sense of certainty Stripping the self to only fear and doubt. Devouring blackness, wasted time. Endless torments, of the haunted mind. These walls ever changing, Twisting corridors contortions of thought, The horrifying realization that this prison of the mind by my own hand was wrought. Twisted and torn in the endless vacuum between epiphany and entropy for countless lifetimes, the spirit is tempered and the fire is doused.

Birthed from the global turmoil of recent years, Skrelle is an epic, malevolent maelstrom of rippling blasts and bursts of rhythm, grinding, explosive riffs cast against an ominously epic symphonic backdrop.
